About Parentive- online safety education
Founder’s Story
Parenting in today’s digital world brings challenges previous generations never had to navigate. Children are growing up surrounded by smartphones, online gaming, social media, messaging platforms, and constant digital connectivity. While technology creates opportunities for learning and communication, it also exposes children to online risks many families are still trying to understand.
ParentiveApp.com was created through both personal experience as a parent and over 12 years of professional experience working within the National Health Service and healthcare sector supporting children with complex medical needs. Through this work, I developed a strong understanding of safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, child protection, communication, and the importance of creating safe environments where children feel supported, informed, and heard.
My passion for online safety education became even more personal following an experience involving my own daughter during an online gaming interaction. She was contacted through suspicious online activity. Because we had already spoken openly about online safety, digital awareness, and the importance of communicating whenever something felt wrong, she immediately came to me and explained the situation.
That moment reinforced the importance of education, trust, and open communication between parents and children in today’s digital world. It also highlighted how quickly online situations can escalate when children are not properly supported or equipped with the knowledge to recognise potential risks.
This experience inspired the creation of ParentiveApp.com a platform dedicated to helping parents, schools, and communities better understand the realities of raising children in the digital age.
At Parentive, we believe online safety education should be treated with the same importance as road safety, personal safety, and safeguarding education taught within schools and communities. Children deserve the knowledge, confidence, and digital awareness needed to navigate online spaces safely and responsibly.
Our mission is to support families through online safety education, cyberbullying awareness, safeguarding advocacy, digital wellbeing education, and responsible technology guidance.
We believe protecting children online is a shared responsibility between parents, schools, communities, and society as a whole.
